Manufacturing products at the San Antonio Lighthouse provide more opportunities to employ both blind and visually-impaired individuals with competitive wages and full comprehensive benefit packages. The products are manufactured in a modern facility utilizing lean manufacturing techniques such as single piece flows, work cells, 5 S program, and continuous improvements program (Kaizen) with extraordinary quality assurance, while offering the community a great business partner. Our 60,000 square feet production facility manufactures a wide assortment of mechanical pencils, pens and other office supplies, while our textile department produces military apparel items as well as military helmet systems for all branches of the military. In addition, we produce many diverse items for the aerospace industry. The manufacturing operation is ISO 9000 2001 certified as well as AS9100 certified.  The San Antonio Lighthouse houses a resourceful production facility that is ready to assist and meet your production needs whether it be Engineering, Fabrication or Product Development services.

Engineering Services Production Services include AutoCAD renderings, machine shop fabrication, robotics, welding and turn-key solutions. Fabrication Services Precision milling of tools and dies and in-house construction of custom machines to support your production needs.

Research and Development Research and Development services are offered under a team of talented technical personnel and engineering staff. Our Research and Development background includes the design and fabrication of textile projects, metal fixture projects and small mechanical automation projects.

Quality Management Systems
The San Antonio Lighthouse is 100 percent dedicated to both customer and employee satisfaction, and continual improvement of the ISO management system. We strive to produce and deliver quality products and services while providing the visually-impaired community a more independent and rewarding lifestyle.

Our system meets all requirements defined within the ISO 9000 2001 and AS9100 Standard and is continually assessed and improved through management review meetings and internal audits. This policy and beliefs associated with it are shared by all employees and are communicated during the hiring process, posted throughout the facility, and is re-enforced during periodic employee reviews.

There are three upper level objectives established in order to promote continual improvement, and they are

• to consistently deliver products on time,
• to minimize defects and customer defective returns, and
• to achieve customer satisfaction.

The role of the Quality Management System is to ensure that the customer’s requests and requirements are incorporated into the product. We achieve this by verifying production processes so that the desired results can be achieved, preventing defects from reaching the customer and correcting processes that are not performing as expected.

We also manage the Quality Management System to ensure compliance with industrial standards set forth by ISO 9000 2001 and Aerospace 9100.
