Meet the Board: Judy Hooper
Why do you serve on the San Antonio Lighthouse Board?
I serve the Lighthouse because I believe in our mission. I think about our mission of empowering those who have lost their sight every day. I dream about cures. I work diligently to make the challenges the vision impaired face surmountable. I want to stop all vision loss.
What do you love the most about the San Antonio Lighthouse?
What I love most about the SALB is the people who work there.
What are some of your hobbies?
I have many hobbies. I love sports. You may know that I am a golf caddy; and I love to swim. My favorite hobbies center around building things. I sew, I crochet, I put things together to make them better.
What is a fun fact about you?
I taught my children how to speed-type. When they took their Master’s and Law School exams, they were allowed to use a computer. They completed the exams, successfully, in half the allotted time.
Occupation? You may think I am crazy, but I was a classroom teacher for 35 years. Can you believe it?! When I retired and talked to others about their careers, I felt certain that I solved more problems every day than most people I know.
